The passenger-side workstation is handmade from a single piece of solid hardwood, with options including cherry, red oak and maple. Designed specifically for the Rivian R1S and R1T, it rests securely between the passenger-side door handle and center console. Each workstation measures approximately 3/4 to 1 inch thick, with generously routed and sanded edges for a smooth, comfortable finish. A raised left-handed mouse platform supports better ergonomics, while the center handle makes it easy to position and remove.

Each workstation is made to order from a unique piece of solid hardwood, so please allow 2–3 weeks for us to handcraft yours.
Wood Types (refer to gallery picture for comparison):

  • Cherry – Ranges from rich red to reddish-brown. Features a straight grain with a fine texture, often exhibiting small gum pockets and brown pith flecks. The lightest and softest option for this product. Product weight is approximately 7lbs.
  • Red Oak – Ranges from light to medium brown with a medium grain structure. Product is sanded smooth but still has more grain texture than the other two options. The hardest and most durable option for this product. Product weight is approximately 10lbs. The grain appearance on this wood resembles the Rivian “Ash Wood” and “Driftwood” interior options.
  • Maple – Ranges in color from very light (more common) to tan with gray/brown streaks (less common, but has more character). Grain structure varies from straight to wavy. Mid-level hardness with a very smooth surface texture. Product weight is approximately 9lbs. The grain appearance on this wood can resemble the Rivian “Walnut Wood” interior option.

Details:

  • Each workstation is handmade from a unique piece of solid hardwood, so no two will be exactly alike. Natural variations in the wood may result in minor imperfections.
  • Comes unfinished. Prefer a finished look? Add a custom stain, protective polyurethane coating — or both — under Related Products.
  • A sheet of adhesive-backed felt is included for customers who would like an added layer of protection between the workstation and their Rivian’s interior surfaces.
  • Product weight: approximately 7–10 lbs., depending on the wood selected.

A Note on Wireless Charging
The workstation is intentionally designed to cover the factory wireless charging area in order to provide a larger, more usable left-handed mouse surface.
If you prefer to keep access to wireless charging and are willing to give up the mouse area, we can modify the workstation so it only covers the right charging pad, leaving the left-side charging pad accessible.
This modification must be requested in the order comments at checkout. If no special request is included, the workstation will be made in the standard configuration shown in the product photos.

FAQs

The questions we get most about our Rivian Workstation product.

Because we really do make each one by hand. These aren’t sitting on a warehouse shelf waiting for a shipping label.

We start with a solid piece of hardwood, and finding a piece this size can take a little hunting — especially for certain wood varieties. This isn’t exactly a quick trip down the lumber aisle at Lowes.

Once we have the right piece, each workstation is individually cut, routed, sanded and finished before it heads your way. Depending on our current order load, we can sometimes get them out sooner, but we’d rather give ourselves enough time to make yours right than rush it out the door.

If your preferred wood type isn’t currently available, you can choose another in-stock variety, shoot us an email, or check back soon. 

With a Rivian, you’ve got plenty of storage options. For safety, we recommend storing your workstation securely in the frunk whenever possible, especially while driving. That said, you can store it wherever works best for you, whether that’s on the floor behind the first-row seats, in the rear cargo area or another secure spot in the vehicle.

Abso-freakin-lutely. Your Rivian interior has a name. Your workstation should dress accordingly.

We have an add-on product for that here. Choose a custom stain to help your workstation match — or intentionally complement — your Rivian’s interior, whether you’re team Black Mountain, Ocean Coast, or somewhere in between. Rivian put a lot of thought into that cabin. Plain wood doesn’t have to crash the party.

You can also add a polyurethane coating for extra protection against coffee rings, lunch breaks, snack crumbs and everything else that happens when your tiny office occasionally doubles as a dining room.

Yes. The workstation is intentionally designed to cover the wireless charging area so there’s enough room for a full mouse area on the desktop.

That was actually a specific request from our resident graphic designer, who strongly prefers a mouse over a trackpad. When charging is needed while parked, a regular charging cable does the job just fine. Old school, but effective!

If you’d rather give up the mouse area in favor of wireless charging, we can modify the workstation to leave one of the factory charging pads accessible. Just be sure to note that special request in the order comments at checkout.

For the most level work surface, we recommend using Rivian’s Camp Mode when needed. Its auto-leveling feature uses the air suspension to help level the vehicle on uneven ground. Most parking lots are already fairly level, though, so in everyday use it really comes down to personal preference.

You’ve found our most frequently asked question! This version fits both generations of the R1S and R1T, but not the R2. Rivian changed the interior just enough that the workstation needs a slightly different design.

But guess what? We’re making one that does fit!

It took us a while to find an R2 in the wild around here, but we finally found a very generous local owner who brought his new baby out to the shop so we could measure, test and start building a prototype — with his shy rescue dog supervising from a safe distance.

That prototype is officially underway, and we expect to have the R2 version ready in the next few weeks — ideally before fall fully takes over and the leaves start coming down. Check back soon!
